Basically I don't care for stuff like that, but this is so stupid, I simply have to say something about it. :)

If his dungeon is really that great so all people vote for him, then it shall be like that. Why not letting him have the honor he deserves?
It's like forcing the best runner out of the running competition. Its simply completely wrong to even think about it.

The two nominees that I wanted to bring up for this months' round are there already.

In my opinion everyone being nominated has already won!

+1 on that. Just being on the list increases exposure and number of players who try a dungeon. Also, since authors can't nominate their own dungeons, there should be at least one other person who thinks the dungeon is good.

I too was ready to vote for Phitt's mine, though Pandafox raises a good point. I have not tried his mod, and really should before voting for another. Of course many people don't have time to try all the mods out before it's time to vote. I was surprised that there weren't that many total votes last time, especially with a possible prize just for voting.

I do think it's really just the fact that knowing people are enjoying your mod that matters though. This should be thought of as a fun way to appreciate mods and not overly competitive.

In my opinion, using this formula will keep all the good modules on the top not just for a month, but for the entire time. This way, the newbies could have a chance to know that they would be playing a nice module...or not.

Besides, last votation we had a winner and some other amazing modules are forgotten this time. What do you guys think?
Yes, I think it is a very good idea.
On my own experience, I olny tried 1 mod before starting to make my mod. (ashamed I know... I will try more soon!)
But there were already too many mods avaible and it was difficult to choose one.
Then I tried one but I was very disapointed about it and I stopped... (I won't name it  )
If each player give a note or a comment to the mods he played, it can help people to choose a mod to play...

About the mod of the month, Phitt is for sure the winner, at least because of the time spent to create his wonderful tileset :!:

Having good mods on the top of some list for a longer period of time can be discouraging for the starting or new modders. Because the top of the list will be filled with mods that have ultra-sleek custom wallsets, music, dialog and monsters. Anything else probably won't be rated as high, meaning the gems will stay on top for ever.

If you want a list of quality dungeons for newbies to try, then that's a good thing. But I think we have that already in that direction: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4361

I don't think the mod-of-the-month is intended as a list for newbies. Personally I think it's to recognize and to motivate modders, each and every month again, big and small. And one time someone wins because he introduces something revolutionary (like a new (mining)tileset), but there ought to be plenty of times that all-vanilla-mods are nominated (and win) just because of the good puzzles, story and suspense. If we keep this open as a competition, we have multiple winners every month (being nominated counts as a win already). And since everyone can nominate a good dungeon that he enjoyed, missing mods (as in: this good one did not make the list) shouldn't be a problem.

Begin able to cast an honest vote is other thing though, since you should have played all mods before casting your vote.

Sorry for the delay in getting voting started this month. This 'selling your house and moving to another country' thing seems to be taking up more time and energy than I thought it would! I will PM Komag nicely later on today to see about setting up a voting thread :).

I fly next Tuesday so probably won't be around that much for the next week or so while we try to pack all of our belongings into 2 suitcases and then settle at the other side !
