SciFi mod pack?

Post by WindyCityGamer »

I've been thinking of making a "dungeon", but I'd like to play around with a Sci-Fi setting rather than fantasy.

Has anyone started working on something like this?

Some of it wouldn't be too hard to do, either alter some of the existing assets into a metallic look, but I was thinking more like a "total conversion": alien creatures, guns and laser swords, grenades, etc.

If anyone has played the classic game "Captive", that's sort of what I'm thinking of (it was sort of like Dungeon Master but with a scifi theme).

I've got a concept I would love to realise of a LoG mod set in an abandoned space ship where things have gone awry. Apart from that and a bunch of people saying a SpaceHulk mod would be cool, I don't know of any sci-if mods in the works.

I hope I'm wrong though - Would be cool though - especially with the new GUI system.

I totally agree with the idea that a sci-fi mod or asset would be nice.
In terms of static objects, tile sets, weapons, it should not be too difficult to make.
The hard part comes when you think about the creature and monsters...
That's the problem imho.

Wow, that looks great! Yeah, the odds area against it coming to full fruition, but we can hope and keep fingers crossed for, like, a couple years or more 8-)

Sometime in the future I plan on making a 'techno' version of the prison wallset. As in clean and more bright and glowy. Partially because I have never seen the prison set used as a base to work from. Mostly temple.

Modify monsters textures to look like robot, change their sounds effect by mettalic one; and tadam, you got sci-fy version of them :D

Now I'm not really much of an artist, but let's say I wanted to screw around and start with something simple, like changing the colors on the textures.

What app(s) would I need to do that?

[edit] nevermind, I saw there's a link to a retexturing tutorial in another thread.
