Glad you like it! Just finished it myself and YES it's a bit cheesier than I recalled it to be, but that's just some of its charm

Just remember to save often, new saves, because one of the levels is particularly unforgiving if you don't do things in the right order
Using DOSbox I found around 8500 cycles is perfect for running it smoothly. Stupid me played halfway through before I cranked them up from 3000...
