Hardware crash loses keys

Post by Elecdrum »

Over the past two days my system which is awubi installed Ubuntu setup has been totally corrupted.
Unfortunately my keys for the upcoming game are on there.
I have the unique PayPal transaction number so would it be possible to re-send the keys?

I don't see how hardware crash would lose a key that is not even saved on your hard drive. If you pre-ordered the game directly from Almost Human, you should still have your key on the unique Humble URL.

...which is probably in an email stored on the computer, I'd assume.

But isn't the email stored on the providers servers, which is accessible from any location as long as you have an internet connection, unless you go to the lengths to save the email on your hard drive and delete the mail from your email account. Why would anyone do that?

Confusing. The OP should elaborate a bit more. Please?

If you are using some email client like Thunderbird or Pegasus Mail then in most cases all your mails are downloaded from server and stored on your computer.

Never, ever in my life have I used such things.

Certainly, that would explain this dilemma oddly well. I should've known better.

Mac OSX, most Linux distros, and smart phones/tablets have some type of native mail program installed by default and they can be quite handy.

Most Windows users don't use those things, however. Windows does have their Live Mail thing, but I find it to be slow and not really worth the effort much like almost everyone else.
