Technically often, but it's not cause and effect. They just named the materials for the monsters after the monsters.zadkielmodeler wrote:So if I understand correctly, as long as the material's name is the same as the new monster's name it will automatically pick it up. Is that correct?Isaac wrote:
There are two ways to edit the monster's material:
First, you can redefine the material (Usually you just make a new material with the same name as the monster).
The material names could be arbitrary (and will vary as people make new monsters and items). The material must exist, and the material name (as typed, and case sensitive) must exist in the model file if you want to have a new material that does not override the default for the whole dungeon. If you just want to make all spiders have a Black Widow pattern, then you need only redefine the default material for them ~and they named it 'spider'.
Here are the default material names for dungeon objects: http://www.grimrock.net/modding/predefi ... finitions/
The materials for monsters (that I have checked), have so far been the name of the monster as it appears in the editor.
*(except that all herders use the 'herder' texture. The way to find the monster materials is to open the model file and see what they are.)
