first of all, the script near the lizard to "wake" him needs a "local" in front of gekko, or else you'll get a CTD every time you try to save the game after waking the lizard with error "cannot serialize table 'gekko' with metatable" due to the fact that gekko = was saved since it was not local.

more importantly, for some reason I can't figure out, the doors already start open when you fall down the pit, and sometimes the lizard even starts awake (in which case when you step on the hidden plate this time, the game will crash with "attempt to index global 'ice_lizard_statue_1' (a nil value)" due to the fact that the lizard is already awake). I don't know what's under the hood of the frost set, maybe that has something do to with it, no idea. Maybe the doors could just use a rename or something, I dunno. But I don't feel like debugging it anymore to fix things. Suggestion, rename EVERYTHING to unique custom names, not script_entity_15, door_12, etc, then fix the connections and try again. It's possible other people's complex scripts could mess with generic named entities
I kind of wish you had PMed me with this, since I warned you I had not had a chance to test things, but just sent it along so you could get started. Given the problems I had just getting this thing back and in one piece, I should have known to wait until I could give it a thourough run-through. I apologize, Komag, for not waiting longer. I take full blame for this.

I think it's obvious that, while everyone has good intentions, I simply can't be an effective project leader while still keeping things clipping along as fast as everyone would like, as the two things are mutually exclusive. The larger this thing grows, the more it needs to be checked in between each modder. From this point forward, this will be done. That means it may be a bit of a wait from the time I get the files back to the time they get sent to the next person. It may be a few minutes, it may be several hours, it may be a day...it all depends on how much time that person invests in actually testing (that means EXPORTING and PLAYING IT THROUGH, as has already been mentioned several times in this thread, as well as in the original post. By not doing basic playtesting, you are not only hurting the team, but your own reputation.).

I apologize for being a bit of a hardass here, but we can't afford to alienate any more of our designers. You are all too valuable to this project, and I want it to be a memorable experience for ALL of you: memorable because it was fun, NOT because it was a hassle.

That said, I'l ask all future designers to please PM me with any problems you may find from this point forward. We have modders here from all over the world, and sometimes things can get lost in the translation. I can certainly understand your frustration, Komag, and I apologize for not being more effective. Rest assured, I will be from now on.

Uggardian, I will PM you a link to the original files you downloaded. It is up to you if you want to try to fix what you've already worked on, or start over. Please give me a shout, either in PM or email, to let me know what you want to do, so we can work on getting this back on track.

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate all the time and energy you are putting into this SpiderFighter. It is no mean feat to co-ordinate such a thing.

From a modders perspective it is very easy to be lax and assume that something works in the game because it works in the editor.. I neglected to test my level before passing it on, but I was fortunate that everything seemed to work ok when I did finally test it.

I would offer to help with testing, but as I think you spotted in another thread I am about to become very busy myself.

Maybe we can pool three or four of us and do the test .. round robin ?

This way noone would be overworked (everyone has a job, or school, family, friends, etc. plus of course their mod to do :D) and the thing would go on without poor SpiderFighter spending all his time on testing.

Nothing personal, I think you're already doing a fine job SpiderFighter, I never considered it your responsibility to test anything, it should be on each of us authors, not you. I'll take another look at this and see if I can't fix it up myself

(I was just excited to get started and felt frustrated at encountering a problem. But now I'm okay with it...)

Thanks, Grim...I respect you a lot and that means much coming from you. I'm certainly guilty of assuming what works in the editor works in the exported files. LoG, as we've seen time and time again, can be a fickle creature.

And that is such happy news. I just left my last child behind in college (she's 19) and moved to a new town only a couple of months ago. I can't tell you how empty the house feels. I really am so happy for you!!

Likewise, my friend. I want absolutely no hard feelings here. This was always meant to be an off-the-cuff, fun thing to do. But I really should have taken that responsibility on as well...otherwise, I'm sending people broken files that then take longer to go back and fix, and thus hold everyone up even longer than if I had just done what I should have been doing all along.

I've sent Uggardian a link and offered him the choice to rework things or start over. If you're going to try and fix it, you might want to get hold of him, just so you both aren't working on the same thing. And many thanks, Komag, for the effort you've already put in. I'm not sure I would have been as patient, had I received it when I was next in line to design.

I just want to say to everyone: Thank you for being here, and making this thing happen. You all have such great, creative minds, and if any one of you were absent, this mod would suffer for it. Please don't mistake my intentions; I just want everyone to have a good experience from here on out. :)

I appreciate that, but I'm not sure how we'd coordinate such a thing, when everyone is on different schedules in different time zones. And poor SpiderFighter works from home, so it's not so bad...it's just that Ms. Spider was home sick this weekend, and she can be very...needy...sometimes when she's not feeling well (in short, I had to pop on the forums whenever she got up to use the bathroom! :D)

Eh, didn't understand it.. Congratulations!
I'm father of a little girl of 3.. I can tell you times ahead will be amazing. Those little creatures with their 18+ charisma  are simply wonderful.

Yeah it's not easy. What I was thinking was in your mail to the designer, to specify also whoever of us should check and the designer to reply to the tester which then forwards it back to you. Of course if you think you have time, doing it yourself is easier (for me especially ). I was just worrying about having poor SpiderFighter taking a second full-time job here

my walls have glitches and id say about 25 % are no longer working as intended... they seem to have lost their colission

According to Edsploration if more than one (secret)door shares a space only the 1st one has the collision information implemented.

any way to work around this?
Ooh.

I thought on the other thread you fixed this? Is this the "my doors are now illusary walls" probem you were having?

i have since fixed it but it was really late and i never got to come back and update this thread. It is all working as intended for the most part.

as I mention in the other thread I had to change my overall idea+expectations because I just didn''t have the patience to execute it the way it needed to be done. Now I have a totally different beast and all that is left is I think i will rename any general object ids to avoid potential conflicts.

We already have a 2 year old boy and he will get a baby brother on Wednesday now, if not before.

Oh that is most exciting, Grimwold!
Congratulations :3

@Prior conversation:
Just think, all the problems we've encountered during this project, we should be able to iron them out and have a much smoother experience the next time around.
