I think if they would ask a minimum price instead of a fixed price alot of people would pay more then the minimum just because of the things listed above.. Today it is all about respect between developer and player and alot of big game companies do not respect the player anymore. Thats what causing the pirating.. I am sure more developers like Notch, Grimrock guys, Torchlight, etc.. will emerge and the big game companies will continue to loose players (market share)..
Keep up the great work!!

Re: You guys are doing everything right.
I really like when developers do this, if you want to play a shooter, action RPG or MMO the market is so flooded there is no way you can reach out to everyone that likes your type of game unless you really either make a huge stride which takes time and money and/or spend lots of money on advertising which also takes lots of money.ZimbuTheMonkey wrote:1. I have followed several independently developed games and they all tend to me more apt to communicate with the fans, and really take the time to listen. I think a lot of it is that most every developer wants to make a great game, but the big ones are dealing with a publisher that just wants to make money. So often when the devs get done with a game the publisher cuts off their funding and has them start on the next project.ZimbuTheMonkey wrote:2. Actually make a good game. Check.

5. Communicate freely with the community on a blog. Check.
Big development studios can learn a thing or two from this situation. I hope this game succeeds beyond your wildest expectations and fills the coffers with enough money for 10 future games.
Independent devs though get a bit more time to work on polishing and fine tuning the game, to appeal to fans, because they are free to work on their own thing, and don't have high level managers that know little about gaming dictating what to work on. Because of this I make sure to buy any good game developed by a small company, and only spend money on really great games by big companies.

I haven't even played the game yet and I can't wait for DLC! I also can't wait to see what the community comes up with when we get the map editor and mods.

I have been thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure if it would be illegal under copyright lawsnianu wrote:i'm hoping someone make a dungeon master map heheMercyfulfate1988 wrote:I haven't even played the game yet and I can't wait for DLC! I doubt it. There are a ridiculous amount of clone projects for the game already. I'm sure a tribute map wouldn't be too big of a deal.

It does look good doesn't it ? All that is left to say is "do not change " ... that and don't forget about the map editor... and for a bonus point.. try to make it so that whatever you make next (dlc or exapansion or a whole part2).. it adds a lot of value if you can transport your characters from log1 to whatever's next
