Getting close to the end of beta
Getting close to the end of beta
Guys, we're getting really close to the end of beta and I'd like to thank everybody for the massive amount of good feedback we have got. The Dungeon Editor wouldn't be nearly good as it is without the amazing, generous help we have received from everybody. A big, HUGE Thank You to all of you!
We're now preparing for the release and if you are not totally burned out already we would really appreciate it a lot if a couple of things could get some attention:
- Importing characters between save games is a new feature and hasn't been extensively tested yet. Please report anything out of ordinary as soon as possible. Note that there are a couple of known issues with older save games that can't be fixed. See this thread for details: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3461#p35151
- The way portraits are stored and handled has changed. Pay attention to anything broken, especially in character generation, importing portraits and importing characters. Grey portraits with some older save games is a known issue, read this for more details: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3461#p35151
- Testing the Grimrock dungeon. Nothing beats a complete playthrough!
- Keeping an eye on general save game issues. The base game and mod dungeons have a slightly different way of storing save games, so testing both the main game and mods is important.
Again, thank you all for the help and support. Happy modding!

I made some healing potions, drank a couple and the flasks would vanish as well, strange. Happend in Level 11 ( from 13 ).
Re: Getting close to the end of beta
Strange, I'm unable to reproduce this... Couple of questions which hopefully give some clues to solving this mystery: Are you sure it was a healing potion (and not some other type of potion)? How did you drink it, by right clicking in inventory, or by clicking on the champion portrait with the item?Trap wrote:I made some healing potions, drank a couple and the flasks would vanish as well, strange. Just remembered this Saved game was played and Saved BEFORE the new patch was released.. that may have something to do with it.
I'm pretty sure starting a new game with latest patch will remedy this. I'll look into it.

Can't say more,
I have been watching this development process and testing main game, and the mods made by the community.. This has been really interesting (and inspiring).
Only thing I have to say is, "Big hand to AH"- And the persistence you guys have dealt and handled the cases. I know it would be an endless game (to deal everything)...
I hope(know) that you guys are the one to the make the 'next big thing' for this community. I hope you guys at AH feel the same!
Best wishes,
X

Ok, thanks for the info! We'll try to reproduce the bug. If you find more clues please tell also, if you can repro the issue with a certain save game, could you please send the file?Trap wrote:Just remembered this Saved game was played and Saved BEFORE the new patch was released.. that may have something to do with it.

Re: Getting close to the end of beta
I agree with X. Truth is, AH didn't even need to make this dungeon editor. But they did.
That being said, I do think it's in their best interest to do so in the long run as it'll help create a strong community and modding scene around any continuation of Grimrock.
AH is even actively posting and helping users get going at the editor. You don't see this sort of stuff much with big developers.
Grimrock 2/Grimrock 1 expansion (if it's made) is easily automatic buy for me and probably everyone else here.

Re: Getting close to the end of beta
Any developer that treats it's community the way these guys do, deserves and gets my support (and they already know that). I've had a lot of 'Big Developer' games before this that've been traded in long ago. The reason.....no editor....no replayability....no longevity.Ixnatifual wrote:I agree with X. Edit : It still needs a zoom feature tho
