Retail release

Post by Stan »

Is there any chance for a retail release? Maybe something like Trine 2 : Collector's Edition with an art book and soundtrack. Some of us still prefer physical releases and it would be really great to have a box with some extra goodies on the shelf.

I'd also love to see a retail release, but they tend to be very, VERY costly these days. First, organizing the deals with publishers, then shipping, taxes, and corporations/retailers who take a good chunk off the money, you are left with almost nothing. Virtual sales are just so much cheaper and easier.

I doubt our friends at Almost Human can afford that for their first release, I'm afraid, but here's to hoping that they'll make enough money via virtual copies to afford a nice retail version one day. :D

Maybe they have some close connections with Frozenbyte. :D They have plenty experience dealing with publishers as I have retail releases of all their games. They managed to produce quite a release for sub 20 EUR price with their last effort Trine 2.

I love the little extras that used to come with dungeon crawler releases like THIS. Some extra stuff, even in digital form if boxes are too expensive would be NIFTY.

Minecraft has had a great success just marketing direct by download. Why cast your lot with those evil corporations. they can make you, but in the end, they will destroy you..

Maybe we could get a cool render of some box art? Could print it out ourselves for the shelf. :D

Doesn't have the same charm as the real deal, but it could work as a substitute. :D

Yeah, I thought that myself too. Big old box may be a little harder to figure out how to print with a4 printers, but dvd sleeve print could be possible...
