I'd take one of the four wooden clubs I was carrying and just bash open doors with it.

look what these guys had to say about playing with no map at all!

I may just give the impossible a try.Hookedgamers wrote:At the start of the game, players can choose to play without an auto-generated map which will certainly lengthen the game with many an hour. Playing without any map, however, is nearly impossible so be prepared to dust off the graph paper and ready your pencil sharpener.

Going for oldschool - no automaps.
To be honest, I probably won't even draw out the maps for the most part, unless there is a particularly tricky area - that's pretty much how much I did it in the past for these sorts of games

Welcome back brave adventurers.
It is too bad you did not discover the true secret of the firestaff. Now that I have it I have no further need for you.

since someone made a black and white copy, i may convince my husband to let me print them out at an office store. i want to keep my maps for my kids when they decide to play. my son is excited too hehe.

Using my iPad also. Set up Grimrock grid paper as background image in a vector drawing program, so I can move & re-size on the fly. So much better than those days in 1987 with Dungeon Master.
Re: hmm, graph paper or automap...
So how are you guys doing with your mapping? I've managed the first 3 levels without mapping of any kind, but it does get a little confusing from time to time!

That's exactly what I'm doing! Just as I did in DM - I had paper but I used it for drawing mummies and screamers on instead of mappingDarklord wrote:I'm going Old School, I'll find my way with no map, without making any notes. It WILL be confusing!

Hmm I've mapped everything from all of the bards tales onwards - I think I've done my penance for my sins

I think I'm on level 3 (sloooooow) and have yet to start mapping. Probably won't bother until I actually get lost.
