I would definitely have use for the skeleton mage (lich?) in the background :D

holy cow that looks great! Are the bookcases more of a rare wall? I can imagine they might get too repetitive, but if used sparingly it would be perfect

You should make like 20 different variations with one book that looks different just for variation of secret switches. Also, you could use the same model to make an alcove, and put things in out-of-the-way shelves. Or even make one book that's actually a spell book that you can use. Any that window could create a pretty cool lighting effect if the right parts of it were solid on both sides.

This looks really good. Are you planning on releasing any of these assets to the public?

Isaac wrote: That looks excellent; you could make those shelves using [invisible] alcoves; or (when we get an export script), use the alcove as an inset space on the shelf ~with books in it. :)
(It might even be possible to do that without an exporter.)
I plan to leave out some books on a shelf on the 2nd or 3rd row to make it an alcove. Is it possible to have more than one alcove model per tileset? Good to know about the vertex colors, thanks.

Unfortunately that's the only thing on the picture that was not done by me (it's a Dragon Priest from Skyrim, just put it in for fun).

I made ~80 different books and there are four different book shelves (with differently placed books) plus one alcove. I have other walls as well of course, like regular walls, the window wall (with two variations, texture isn't final yet) and tapestries similar to the ones used in the temple tileset. And I plan to do some more wizard type things, like statues, some kind of alchemy station and so on. So hopefully there should be enough variation to make sure the books don't get too repetitive. Like already mentioned manual adjustment may be a good idea to make sure it looks good.

I want to use one of the four default shelves I made and place one book slightly rotated to make it a secret button. So it looks like a regular bookshelf, but if you look closely you can see there is a secret button.

Of course, everything I do will be a modders resource.

Hey Phitt, cool stuff!

Vertex colors and glow maps aren't supported currently. Maybe if we'll ask Petri nicely, he'll code them :D . At least I could use glow maps on stuff.

Very nice Phitt. I would suggest making the book shelves a "custom wall" that can be placed manually in the editor like the wall "crypts" (alcoves with skeletons inside), replacing the standard walls. Then additionally have normal standard walls that cover the "regular area" and the hallways.

Obviously a bookshelf-wall needs to turned to a secret door, so if you pull the right book the wall opens a new room. ;)

We need bookshelf walls, bookshelf secret walls, bookshelf secret buttons, bookshelf alcoves, and bookshelf spawners that shoot books at people.
