I'm starting a second playthrough and in the second level, there is a group of 4 skeletons that seems to be infinitely spawning. Oddly enough, whenever I load my autosave, they are in the north east corner of the room near the gargoyle with the "only a patient man..." wall text.
I can provide my save game if this would help track down what's going wrong.
So far I've found this to be the perfect grinding opportunity, even thought it's slow going. I just kill the mob, sleep, then quick save, quick load, and fight the newly spawned mob next to me. This may eventually lead to badness though, as it seems that there are duplicate mobs spawning inside the room next to the gargoyle. So when they finally come out, it's going to be droves of skeleton infantry.
It might be worth noting, that I saved a GOG install, and have continued that on Steam. I'm not sure if that matters.

Whoa, thanks! I managed to reproduce the bug here and it seems to inflict all monster groups in the main dungeon. I'm afraid your savegame now has a much much larger number of enemies in it than usual. And possibly some weird secondary bugs resulting from that.
We'll fix this ASAP.

Yeah, I'm running version beta-1.2.8
It was actually duplicating the skeleton group in the room, as well as the one behind the door. So after killing a good 50 groups in the room, I realized I had a stack of 50 enemies hiding in the alcove.
That took a while to clean up, but a little bit of snoozing behind a chain door, and we're all clear.
Is the bug specific to my save, or just a script triggering more than it should?

It's not specific to your save but it only happens in the main Grimrock dungeon and not in the custom dungeons. And it does happen with ALL monster groups so you have some extra archer and scavenger groups waiting for you later on in the dungeon.
If you want to play through the dungeon "cleanly" I'm afraid you'll have to wait until we update the beta (possibly later today) and then restart the game from beginning.

Aaaand the new build (1.2.9) is out now which fixes this issue.
But yeah, the monsters are already in your save game so have fun with huge swarms of monsters. At least they won't be duplicating more.
