The Grimrock Original dungeon could maybe be remade in the dungeon editor. Is this even possible ?

I would gladly give it a try, if only to learn about modding and scripting.

Yes, it's certainly doable. Although the end fight might have some hardcoded things in it that might not be possible to replicate in the editor.

For the other hand , the main dungeon will remain original forever and no one will solve or see the mystery behind the scene.
And the main dungeon is the heart of game the Real Legend of Grimrock.

But if ALMOST HUMAN wants to recreate whole original game dungeons as a mod , and the final boss is little complex , they can replicate a simpler boss , or the final boss will be different and there will be a surprise.

This will make players who have finished the original dungeon to play again (By curiosity) and see other boss or different game ending.

Nice Idea?

This is so awesome, I still can't believe how much you guys are devoted to your community. Just an idea, Grimrock 2 (I hope there will be one) would be awesome if it were a fully modular game where things like characters class, race, traits, maps, events (like cinematics) could be fully moddifiable. However, I am pretty sure any future you guys will came up with will also be awesome :)

I must say that this game trully inspired me and if a book on how it was created, as well as tutorials on how it was coded was published. I would be a buyer ! It make me want to learn about game creation, however it's a bit hard to know where to start.

I wonder if in hindsight it wouldn't have saved development time to have made the editor at an early stage so it could've been used to make the Grimrock levels in the first place. I must assume it's a more efficient means than how they were actually built.

I don't know how many games go that route, but the original Thief was that way, and when they eventually released the editor it was the same one they used themselves, so it was pretty cool using the same tool the devs had used :)

Back then the game was a moving target, and evolving an editor at the same pace the game was evolving would have made a much longer development time. Crazy enough as it is.

A suggestion;

With the quantity of new Dungeons appearing....

It would be nice if - we could save a game with the Dungeon's name and then have the quick save work with that title and save. Please?

do you mean there would be the possibility for multiple quick-saves/loads, one for each dungeon name?

That would be nice, you can just never have to worry about using full save names, and just play dungeon 5, quick save, try out dungeon 10, quick save, go back and play dungeon 5 some more, loading ITS quicksave, etc

Isn't it even cooler to use the tools BEFORE the devs have a chance to build new content with them? 8-)
