Need help with testing the main game!

Post by petri »

To make modding possible there has been many internal changes that might have broken something with the original Grimrock scenario. Therefore it would be important to test it thoroughly before releasing the editor.

We would be very, very thankful if you could help in testing, not just the editor, but the main game too. Especially if you manage to play through the game with beta-1.2.6 (or later). Please post your findings here. Even if there are no problems with it, we'd like to know.

I bet a few eager folks who are not on steam (and thus they frustratingly cannot help beta the editor) would be willing to test the main game if there was a way for them to download the new files for the main game outside of steam as a one-off thing. Or would there be updates and fixes for the main game too, thus needing the steam update? If so, maybe this idea won't work then.

I agree, i would like to test the game, but i have bought it on gog.com, so i dont have acces to beta. If there is a way to share those files with us, we could test the game even without Steam.

EDIT: Maybe if you could export some dungeons, we could test them for compatibility and other things.

I was doing a play-through as Toorum before the beta was released.. I had just reached floor 12... From there, I completed the game using the beta (mostly 1.2.7) and didn't notice anything unusual or problematic gameplay-wise.

Will it be possible to edit the main game in some fashion eventually? Not super important perhaps, but could be interesting.

Unfortunately that is not possible because the original grimrock dungeon has not been made with the editor (we didn't have an editor at all when working on it).
