Yesterday, I've read about another old school RPG remake called Chaos Chronicles. Those guys seem to have the same ambitions like the devs of Grimrock.

They have their own devblog (http://www.chaos-chronicles.com) with many references to traditional RPG games of the 80s like Bard's Tale, Ultima, Wizardry, Phantasie, Pool of Radiance.

It seems to me like it's dungeons and dragons combined with Diablo gameplay. Maybe one to watch.

I am not sure about Diablo, they are writing on their page (under About): "Chaos Chronicles combines the traditional turn-based roleplaying games with a state-of-the-art graphic engine and a dense atmosphere."

I didn't read the whole blog yet, but for me it looks more like a remake of Phantasie, Wizardry and Pool of Radiance.

I clearly remember the moment when I saw the first screenshot of Dungeon Master (a mummy standing in a doorway) in a gaming magazine. I asked my friend whether that was a loading screen because I couldn't believe it was what the actual game looked like. The graphics were simply too good to be true. Quite funny from a modern point of view.

But apart from the graphics Dungeon Master is one of the few games that are still fun to play for me even nowadays. I gave many of my favorite games from the 80s and early 90s a try (like Last Ninja, Druid, Racing Destruction Set, Beach Head 2, Ultima 2 etc etc), but almost all of them are shallow and boring now.

Personally I think Grimrock is mainly inspired by Dungeon Master (and not so much by EoB and other clones of it) so if you enjoy Grimrock you will enjoy DM as well as long as you can ignore the graphics, which are naturally terrible after 25 years. I even think there aren't any important differences at all in terms of gameplay apart from convenience features, turn off the automap function, play with arrow controls and there you have a new level of DM with 2012 graphics.

I'm only 15 and the oldest and first game I have played was halo. So now 10 or 11 years later bought the anniversary and compared the graphics and I thought halo was the best looking game ever at the time. It just goes to show the change after 10 years. Also the jump from dungeon master to halo (or other games at the time) so what will they be like in 10 years when we will be comparing them to the likes of Battlefield 3.

Games that you wouldn't find around today is what I consider an old game.

You do have a good point but I see businesses like that to be very specialists and are quite rare. Still a valid point though so maybe I should say an old game is one that isn't found in retail shops

I guess anything that is more than a few years old is old, but some people would class anything from last year or older as old.

Personally I think around 4 or 5 years+ is an old game. Oblivion for example.
