Due to popular request if you preorder or have already preordered the game directly from us, in addition to the steam key you will get access to the standalone installer when the game is released on April 11th. You can get the installer on April 11th from the download page link that is mailed to you when you made the pre-order, so make sure you hold on to the mail if you want to use the standalone version!
Please spread the word
Uhm, ok !?
Probably stupid question....what is a stand alone version of a game !? What is different from the 'normal' version ??

Like Crashbanito said above me. You don't need any other programs. Meanwhile, if you buy it from... say... Steam, you would need steam installed and running to play it, meaning must be connecting to the internet all the time as well, even through it's a single player game.

You don't need to be online to play Steam games unless they (rarely) implements own DRM what requires internet connection.
Most Steam games use just Steam DRM or are without any DRM (you can launch them without Steam being running).
Still, if I remember correctly, Grimrock does run while Steam is in Offline mode....
