Herder/Conjurer Hat room door is bugged?
So, most of us figured out how to open this door. You flip the switch down, press the button opposite the door, flip the switch back up, then press the switch next to the door. So on my second run through the game, thinking I didn't need Toorum's hint anymore, I went ahead and opened the door before doing the adjacent trapdoor room. After the ensuing fight with the herders, I found that I was missing a crossbolt and couldn't find it on the floor, so I reloaded the game... and this time the door won't open anymore. I've repeated the process several times, and then moved on, then come back to it and it still won't open. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hmm...nope. Do you habe another save, before this part? Probably a bug, you should reload a previous save.

Nope. I only kept one save plus the autosave, which was overwritten when I moved on. Guess I'm out of luck.

Okay I figured it out. I eventually got the door open after some experimentation. Apparently, the buttons have an "on" and "off" state just like the lever, but is not obvious. I think what happened was that I pressed one before I saved in that room, which made their on/off states mismatch once you complete the sequence.

I see. Glad you figured it

If there's one hint I can give for almost any game out there it's, Keep many saves! Seriously I tend to keep around 10 individual saves, as you never know when you want/have to go back to a previous point, due to either a bug or you just changing your mind about something.
This is something I've been practing for 20 odd years and it's never let me down.
