Uninstalled It
Re: Uninstalled It
Actually yes, I hit the last tileset and saved on the staircase, then the patch came out. It was only post patch I noticed slow down.

Re: Uninstalled It
I only had big problems with two of the timing-related puzzles. The first was level 6, the worst pit puzzle. I think I tried that one 30 times before finally getting it. The second was the 3 firing statues puzzle, I forget which level but it was made impossible by my overburdened party! Once their packs were lightened it wasn't too difficult.
Also I noticed a subtle "trick" in the firing pattern that required me to do something counter-intuitive:
The other "arcade" puzzles I failed a few times before getting them.
How could the puzzles be made easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment one gets by overcoming something requiring practice?

SpoilerShow
About 2/3 of the way through the firing pattern, one statue sends 2 balls of light in quick succession, so you actually have to wait on the same tile until both hit the party, then go back into hyper-strafe mode to deal with the flurry of spectral balls that follow.
How could the puzzles be made easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment one gets by overcoming something requiring practice?
Re: Uninstalled It
Why should it be made easier when it's an optional puzzle? (The one with the statues I mean.)b8w2N7r6Wz0q5e wrote:How could the puzzles be made easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment one gets by overcoming something requiring practice?
I suppose there could be a menu function that increases the parties speed, while globally decreasing the game clock; but this should be an "emergency" method that lasts for a few minutes, brands your game, and disables all XP and achievement awards while it's active. (And shouldn't work on iron doors.)

Where did I say any puzzles should be made easier?
Re: Uninstalled It
Well... it totally depends how the text is read.b8w2N7r6Wz0q5e wrote:Where did I say any puzzles should be made easier?
* How could the puzzles be made easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment * >> Meaning "What ways can they devise to make it easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment".
or
* How could the puzzles be made easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment * >> Meaning "But I can't see any way to make it easier without ruining the sense of accomplishment; or even why they should".
So I mistook your meaning as the first one.

Oh, I see. Yes, it was intended as a rhetorical question.
I do agree the puzzles don't need to be made easier.

I just saw the first page, sad to see members who blatantly insult and attack mentally impaired people thrive in these forums.

"...arcade like puzzles..."
Arcade? :S
"...arcade game..."
Arcade game!? Is it just me, or did you completely miss on the genre for this game?
"...Mario..."
Mario!? How in mother of all that is good did you bring Mario into this?
Okay, sure: I find the puzzles difficult, and sometimes frustrating, too. I also get slightly upset when I have to move on even though I couldn't get a Door of Iron to open up. But that's the game I expect it to be, personally. Instead, I plan playing through the game again, and maybe figuring it out next time (or give in and look for hints on the internets).
Also, when I got Legend of Grimrock, I was expecting it to be turn-based. However, I think I prefer it this way: Turn-based, but with 1-second turn intervals. Talk about hardcore!

I hear ya man. Got it on my second attempt. First one I just stood and watched the left one fire after 2 in the middle, then I saw it moved again and just followed the pattern.. Tbh it was extremely easy.Sir_Veillance wrote:I never understood why people had trouble with the iron door light puzzle. I got it on my first try.
In fact I didn't find a single "speed puzzle" hard. *shrug*.
Yeah sure some I had to redo a few times until I found the right button on the wall, or whatever, but hard? Not so much..

The timed puzzles are significantly easier on a faster computer.Jinxed wrote:I hear ya man. Got it on my second attempt.
