I changed the style a little bit and it works faster now:
I only kill the three Ugguardians (one of them set free by pushing the four buttons) in the fire maze, and the cave crab which spawns there (about 2000 exp, my fighter is level 17 now, the others 16).
Then i sleep for a little bit more then one minute. After that they are respawned. I leave the skeletons in their halls and only visit the snails for food (all level 6).
Best area to grind experience
Re: Best area to grind experience
I've noticed that solving the secret on level six pit seems to make the Uggardians spawn less frequently. If you don't solve the puzzle, sleeping for a little over a minute seems to work well. But after I solved it, they did not respawn that quickly.

This is untested but I thought they respawned every few times you fell down the pits. When I was trying to get the secret, every few failures would mean fighting them again.
Re: Best area to grind experience
I do a few cycles of skeletons (maybe 6 cycles or so), take out the crab and three Uggardians, then repeat. I just got my fourth party member to level 18, and my rogue is 125,000 xp from level 19 (it's almost 180k from 18-19). I'm not sure I feel like walking the treadmill that much, though. I already got bored once and cleared levels 7-10.

Yeah you're right mate, I just created this account to post that same comment, guess now ill just confirm yours.Disasterrific wrote:This is untested but I thought they respawned every few times you fell down the pits. For me tho, sometimes it would take dropping down the pit twice, but more often than not I was getting them everytime I returned from the pit.
This was probably by far the fastest way to grind that I found, playing with a party of 3 (Knight, Monk, and a fire-mage)
When reaching this room my party was almost completely invulnerable to fire,
Using only fire shield for added protection only my knight would take damage's of 4-13.
Remembering the Fire Torc on the next level near the crystal of life made my party completely invulnerable to fire.
Re: Best area to grind experience
I`d say the best place to grind exp is at level 9 Temple grounds. There are respawning ice lizards wich yield about 600-650 i think.
Baked maggot is awful.
Pit Bread is nice
PIE IS AWESOME!

They don't respawn as fast as you think. They didn't even spawn fast enough to keep my party fed when I tried to farm them for food.

Perhaps you were not in the area where they respawn??Thels wrote:They don't respawn as fast as you think. They didn't even spawn fast enough to keep my party fed when I tried to farm them for food.
I noticed that the two rooms at the north end of the map, every so often I would hear the sound of a trap door open, only to turn and see a blue lizzy there for food. I was looking for secret areas and I heard it again less than 30 seconds later and lo and behold... They will literally run you off of the north end of the map, but you can wind up exploring the southern and western parts fairly free...But maybe their respawn is reduced when you solve the secret?? No idea...I've never seen a blue lizzy hopping around the rest of the map when I was exploring the dungeon from that point on. I did..however, leave the gate open once, and found 2 hopping around in my checker room. Oh boy...what a mess.
Re: Best area to grind experience
I did close the entrance and exit gates (though I had already completed the level, so I couldn't close the secret entrance).
I ran tracks around the entire blue lizard area, exploring every room and corridor, and it often took me 3-4 laps to encounter one of them. Occasionally I explored the other areas that I was unable to close off (which included the pillared hallway area), but I never found any there.
If the spawn rate does drop after solving the secret, then that could be the issue for me, as I didn't try to farm them until after. Also, I played on hard in case that matters.
