Has The New Patch solved GPU over heating?

Post by ttomm46 »

I know when the game came out some people said they fried their GPU's...I have an onboard HD6530D built right into my AMD quad core processor..no way to check temps..been afraid to play for more than a few minutes at a time...Anyone else play this type of set up and is it safe? :?

Sounds like this is a problem with your integrated GPU. You should contact AMD about it.

Also you should be able to check your CPU temperature using many different tools, including some that came with your motherboard.

CPUID HWmonitor, CoreTemp - these will show temperatures for CPU. GPU temperatures are usually shown by vendor specific programs or by programs which are designed to stress your card, like Furmark.

But to the point: Turning vertical sync on fixes the overheating problem for most people.

also GPU-Z shows temperature and additioanl GPU-load for various vendors and cards. it's a small and a well maintained progam, recommended.
my ATI HD3600 stays with LOG all the time around 90°C on 100% GPU load... so good cooling is required! ;)

To achieve an cooling effect on the GPU you need to bring down the GPU load under 100%. So eventually you have to lower your
"frameratelimit" option in the grimrock.cfg until this happens (or reduce resolution). The pre-configured 120fps limit is to high for somewhat older or slower GPUs (try around 30 FPS).

Hopefully that can be addressed in Grimrock 2.
Well the Dungeon Editor will allow fans to make Dungeons in any style they like! I encourage everyone to have a go upon release and see what you can come up with. :)
