Soundtrack suggestions
The game is great, but what I lack sometimes is a soundtrack for dungeons (especially when you have to solve riddles as soon as the area is clean of mobs). Why not putting your own stuff on?
What would be your music of a choice?
Personally, I am enjoying the game along with new subtle dark ambient/drone Black Swan - "Aeterna" (2012). The ominous ambience, sometimes medieval chorale in the background.

Arcana.
Best dungeon crawl / medieval RPG music.
I just grabbed this link at random, because almost all the songs would fit perfectly.

Both Black Swan and Arcana are perfect, but to me the atmosphere of the game requires no background music, I can't imagine a group of prisoners listening to an iPod while trying to surpass dungeon traps, monsters...

Well, I take games for the same kind of fiction as movies. It is convention and metaphor, not "simulator" of reality.
The music makes you believe that there is some higher purpose behind the characters quest and more life and history behind these mute walls of stone.
When I hear a harpsichord playing, wast expanses of Might & Magic surface my mind.)

I think that the Lands of Lore "soundtrack" fits perfectly for the dark dungeon theme; various music from a little bit happier to very dark and frightening. Lands of Lore has one of the best music tracks IMO of all time.
Re: Soundtrack suggestions
Next time I start a new game of Grimrock, I'll have to remember to put on some Eternal Darkness music down low in the background. The entire album is purpose written for spooky survival games of all kinds, but The Chosen was always my favorite.
Re: Soundtrack suggestions
Most of the time when I play fantasy game that lack music background (or when I dislike it) I listen some Metal or Loreena Mc Kennit.
Re: Soundtrack suggestions
i actually love the game as it is though sometimes the music does help with all the action that is going on, it really gives more feeling to the players depending on the suggested mood of the event although this is something that some people might not agree on because sometimes the music just makes the period more tense as it already is. sometimes silence really helps me solve the puzzles in the game so it really depends on the situation.

Re: Soundtrack suggestions
I would either go with the game's soundtrack... or perhaps a movie soundtrack (Gladiator, Batman, Crow Musical Score), or sometimes, just Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King.
Define ... 'Lost.' Neverending Nights - The Neverwinter Machinima that WILL make you laugh!

Composer Jeremy Soule with a AD&D/Realms of Arkania feel...but mostly unintrusive or ambient
