How can 2 lizards (i always saw them as snow T-Rex) be a problem once you clear their area?????????

They are a Godsend to replenish your food so you wont starve on the last levels.

I don't know why, but I just hate endless respawning. It's simply annoying. I didn't hate LoG because of it, but I just couldn't believe they had to use it in the game. Although my first playthrough took almost 20 hours (yes, twenty, I guess I was looking for secrets pretty intensively :)), I didn't have problems with food. Before level nine I already had to eat everything as soon as I picked it up, as I had two boxes full of food.

I experienced the same, but there are a bunch of people also complaining about starving as well. I'm not sure how, I went REALLY slow while hand mapping myself, but had far more food than I could carry and left food littering the dungeon floor all over the place. However, the occasional respawning mobs alleviate that issue for those that seem to have the problem. They provided a couple of those locations in the game for them, even making them confined areas you can close.

Just goes to show you can't please some people no matter what you do. The OP actually complains about both starving and respawning, caged food sources... tough crowd.

I ran out of food on level 4, after that I was much more careful to save when trying a puzzle and to reload once I figured it out, also respawning food sources helped.

Food shortages can be less about how much exploring you're doing than how well you're doing in combat. Players who get hurt a lot and don't make heavy use of crystals will consume more food as healing (whether through rest or just passage of time) consumes food.

If you have a good grasp of the combat mechanics and a well-designed party, you'll find food to be way in excess of your needs.

On the OP's point, I do agree that the game went off the rails a bit in the later levels. Finishing for me was a bit of a grudgefest as the puzzles became less intuitive and organic and more painful, instead.

I fail to understand how you could run out of food in this game. My first playthrough(on hard/old school mode with warrior,rogue,2 mages) went alright. I mapped all the levels found most of the secrets/treasures/Toorum notes with a little food to spare(Total gameplay was around 20hours since I wasn't rushing to finish).

My second playthrough(4 rogues for the win) I explored everywhere, found every secret, treasure, Toorum note, and I had about 3 character's inventories full with food(Total gameplay was around 8 hours). (Some of those puzzles still suck >.>)

Nothing was really too difficult.(though besides Mage in first , warrior and rogue did max 40 Damage per hit compared to second playthrough where correctly played my characters were doing around 80 per hit with 300 damage skill hits)

Edit: Forgot to mention even with my terrible first party, there was zero grinding involved. The invasion of the white blobs, Secret slime area, and fighter's challenge were the only remotely hard parts of the game if you did them as soon as possible.

They don't respawn at normal. I made sure of that. I didn't like that part very much but I managed to get through it by luring them to a gate and closing it in the middle of the battle when I needed to.
The fact that you can choose whatever party you want, doesn't mean every party can survive the hardest difficulty setting. This game is about survival, not roleplaying.
When you start a game for the first time and choose the hardest difficulty, it's always a good idea to save often and on different slots. It looks like you bit more than you could chew.
You should probably move on to another game and return fresh when you are ready, or get someone else's save file if you don't mind that sort of thing.

Just can't please everyone...

Daniel.
I don't see the point of a hunger system when there's several endless food supplies to be honest. I never starved in this game, not once, and I don't think I did anything special other than picking up the food before moving on.

Problem 1: two ice lizards respawn.
Problem 2: not enough food.
