Let's not bring WoW's min-maxing madness to this game please! It's an old-school single player game; No one is going to know if your characters do 0.1% less damage than they potentially could, and I doubt the monsters have Enrage timers. :)

Haha, nicely put. For some people, at least for me, this min-maxing is a game inside the game. It's like solving a math puzzle. :D

I imagine over the course of the year a wiki or guide will be developed by the community indicating how each attribute and skill works. IMHO one the best things about a game like LoG is the lack of information and the reward of experimenting with the system to find out something on your own about the game and how it works.

To be fair, min/maxing predates WOW by decades. It emerged on the table top. To dismiss it as something that's bad is to miss the point of it entirely. I hope to participate in the WIKI... :)

I dismiss it as something that is bad and I have been dealing with it for almost 20 years. Here is how it works for me.... Ye olde table top! Min Maxer: My god we barely won we need to adjust our damage and work about a better plan, I mean really I only have 5 hp left! If you had gone into this talent and used that spell instead we would be way better off!" Me: "Did we win? Yes. When we lose a fight over the crap you are talking about then I will care."

Funny thing, I don't recall many lost fights at the table top that we weren't supposed to lose and I can count the number of raid wipes I have had in WoW because someone did 5% less dps than they should have on one hand. Meanwhile I have lost count of how many raid bosses I have killed. A veritable crap ton of them at the least since I have been raiding mostly successfully since molten core was new.

I'm happy I've never had to roleplay with a min-maxer (or munchkin, as I've learned to call them) - it was tough enough to move from 'dice-playing' to 'roleplaying'..

The original red box d&d tutorial adventure included a cleric who *thought* her mace was +1, but really wasn't. The d&d rules didn't really encourage such roleplaying ;)

Anyhow, I digress.
