What Grimrock Needs is a Save-Game Editor

Post by tecknomage »

:!: What we really need is a Save Game Editor (like Basilisk Eschalon games have) that you use to edit save-game files.

You most certainly have my vote here. 8-)

I would also love to see the ability to allow "less than" four characters to be able to traverse the dungeons, and possibly with a Permadeath option.

NOTE: I have Hex Workshop and have examined Girmrock's save-game files.

I have used this on other game-save files, but I could not find the locations for key entries for Grimrock.

On other games I can to a text search for an entry like "Armor" and find where the primary location is. Then it's just a matter of finding the current value location which should be close to the primary location. Once I have that, I can change the value, save, and Load the modified save-game and see it it worked. Note I use a save-game separate save-game file usually called "Edit" to do this.

Editing save games is basically cheating. Why would you want to cheat? It takes half the fun out of it!
