You can take Athletics. Just don't pretend it's not bad.

That 1/16th reduction in your party's food consumption isn't exactly a big deal. Athletics is a placebo for people who suck at math.

The original question has been answered, but I wanted to add one more thing in here (food related)... I would love to see new types of foods incorporated into the game.

How many "fried/baked maggots can you eat?"

I have Pie, it's all I need!

Daniel.
A gently fried snail slice is absolutely delicious with a pat of butter...

There could be some new kinds of pie, cleverly hidden and with some small, permanent bonus given to anyone who ate them?
Blueberry pie: +to willpower
Cherry pie: +to vitality
Meat pie: +to strength
Chicken pie: +to dexterity

Just a few brainstormed possible suggestions.

I left a set of armor and weapons (with some food and a few torches) for that set of bones... you know.... "just in case".

Athletics is one way to stop worrying about food consumption; if you made a few insect characters that really helps too.

If you are having food problems be wary of some magic items...

as some of them increase food consumption while you wear them
Yeah, I'm wearing one of those. But it seemed to be the worst when I just hit level 5. I actually had more food entering level 6, and I made it a habit to visit a certain hallway, until I had myself a decent reserve.

I had troubles again when entering the last 3 levels. I had zero food left and all my characters were starving. I've been running through level 9, but it seems I spent more food hunting the buggers down and kill them than they're worth. Their respawn timer is very slow.

But it turned out not to be a problem at all, because

Level 13 is literally stocked with food, and the creatures there are pretty weak, so even with half AP it wasn't hard to finish them off. After clearing out level 13, I had plenty of food to do the end battle.

Is snail considered slow-food?
