Elemental Fallen Enchantress is cool.

Post by Dandy »

Anyone else playing this fantastic beta?
I have been playing it for days now and I am totally addicted. Apparently Stardocks first attempt at this was a bit of a disaster, but it looks like they have got it right this time. :D

I haven't tried the expansion yet - Elemental kicks my rear end every time I play :|

I don't think it's a expansion, it's a full game, and a bloody good one at that. :) Every now and then you get one of those games you can't put down, this is like that.

I was wondering if they are near going out of business. They sold Impulse to Gamestop and they released Elemental before it was done. It seemed like they were wanting a quick cash flow. Then they laid off a bunch of people.

I hope I am wrong. I

I don't think so. I think it's more of a spring clean up. They seem to be tidying things up, like having a new Stardock central connected directly to the game site, so that everything is in the one place.
They are working on 2 large projects at the moment, the new Elemental and a add-on for the Sins series.
No, I would say they have given beta access to EFE purely to make sure that they get it right this time, which they seem to be right on track with.

Actually, it seems to be a Stardock bad habit to release unfinished feeling stuff. I had that with Galactic Civilizations II.

I stick to what they're originally good at: Windowblinds for my desktop.

I can't see them having huge cashflow issues due to all of their regular applications almost certainly bringing them in revenue. Although, perhaps they've become obsolete with Windows 7? I'm not sure how pretty that is, since I'm still on XP myself. Perhaps it no longer needs desktop beautification though.

That may have well been the case, but I think that now they have learned their lesson and are putting their games out for beta pre-orders so that they have no strict dead lines to keep to, and also to make sure that people are happy with what they have to offer.
