slow hands level 7 (lower rez, turn off sound?)

Post by pjtpdx »

I'm having quite a bit of trouble with level 7's timed puzzle. Its the one that looks like the xbox game where you play a guitar and try to hit the notes as they come at you, instead balls of light shoot out at you and you have to block them. My old man fingers aren't fast enough to dodge and weave, is there a secret button or something that disables the puzzle?

I thought this was an old-school RPG, not a hand-eye coordination game. WTF??? Lame. I tried lowering my graphics effects to make the keyboard more responsive, but it seems to be just me.

advice?

have you checked you're not encumbered and slowed down by your inventory?

Treat it like the guitar hero game. Try and listen for a rhythm and match your movements to the pace. It's actually not that fast, the tempo is pretty even to this at its fastest point. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ktrack.ogg Then try to memorize the pattern at which they come.
Also, you don't have to wait for the entire animation of the light ball hitting you to finish, once the animation has begun you've got that one in the bag and can move. Maybe even a little bit sooner than this.

Okay, just to clear this up.

I have been playing this on my laptop and spent literally 11 hours trying this puzzle turning everything on my computer off and thinking it was just a matter of timing.

After almost going insane I got my brother to log in on my steam account and download the game on his 2 year old desktop. He had never played it before but I explained what he had to do and he finished it while I was still on the phone with him. Took him 5 minutes. Couldn't believe it.

So it seems that some computers just cant cope with it. And although I am no pro gamer I do like to play a lot of games so it is not just that my brother is better than me :P .

My advice? Either do what I did if you are a perfectionist like me or simply give in. It is definitely not worth eleven hours trying to find out that you could never have done it on your computer anyway, I can tell you that.

this was the funnest puzzle in the game for me. I felt like I was dancing. Also doing with toorum if you have unlocked him makes it really easy since he moves so fast.
I want more puzzles like this ;)

Thanks Darklord. I turned EVERYTHING down to low or off and ran at lower resolution -AND- disconnected my network and killed a bunch of background crap in Task Manager.

BAM!

Got it on the first try after a cumulative, oh, three hours? Definitely was my system, I just hadn't turned enough stuff off.

Thanks!

I do think a patch could put in a secret switch to disable this puzzle for people who can't handle it.

(FYI I managed it in 5 minutes, but not everyone plays games can handle this kind of thing and didn't start playing a dungeon crawler for a guitar hero challenge)
