The rebirth of old shool?

Post by WarBaby2 »

Hey folks,

So, with the upcoming release of LoG and the impending remake of the Baldur's Gate series... what do you think should be remade/updated next? It's no secret that we old shool gamers have been left somewhat hanging over the last years, but now it seams we get catered too again... we can atleast hope, can we?^^

EDIT: Ah, silly, I should give my own example too, shouldn't I? I'd say... Planescape Torment!

Wizardry!

Daniel.
A gently fried snail slice is absolutely delicious with a pat of butter...

Oh wow, feel like an old person on a gameshow who cannot make their mind up!....
*clocks ticking*.
errr, erm!...

Eye of beholder, no wait, that's a classic and should probably never be touched.
Baldurs gate, no they're doing that already!.

Probably the Ravenloft games.
I loved the realm in P&P games, me and friends would ALWAYS make adventures in ravenloft.

On a personal note : I'd love to see Moonstone remade, not a true roleplaying game in the sense of old-school D&D(and spin-offs).
But when i was just a grasshopper playing that, the gore, the exploration at the time, it was crazy fun!.

Stay strong.

EDIT : Also looking forward to Wastelands 2!.
All the best to that team, I love how retro games are making a fight for a comeback.
Doing well too, due to indie titles being really popular, it helps. but indie titles today is probably how most games back then were made... (no game dev here sadly so i wouldnt quote me on that).

Personally I'm looking forward to Wasteland and the Doublefine Adventure and naturally Grimrock.

'12 has been really kind so far, nostalgia wise.

Here is a really promising remake of XCOM http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/ :) If you preorder it you can play the latest beta builds (btw it was on their offtopic forum where i found out about Grimrock :P)

Also Paradox Interactive is publishing a remake of Syndicate: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/for ... 659-Cartel

Also i agree with Darklord, a Wizardry remake would be purely awesome :D

It would be nice to have a proper star control 3 by the original authors, but they recently sold their company so that's rather unlikely.. (http://toysforbob.com/about.html)..
