make mages able to prepare next spell while on cooldown

Post by Kostas »

Many people complain about Mages requiring more micro than other classes (and not even shining in the DPS department either).

Can you at least make it so I can prepare the next spell to cast while my mage is on cooldown (greyed out)?

A second idea is to make the magic a separate button (so the mage can hold anything in his two hands) (maybe on or next to the mage's portrait) so they can even attack unarmed like everyone else.

Yeah it's kind of stupid how the mage's rune page disappears after a cast, and also ghosted out when not ready.

If it would not efect balance I would also agree to be able to prepare a spell. In any case the simple fact that you need to click on the spell is balance enough in my opinion.

I just love how we need to click and run for the mage to work well.

I knew something was bugging me about this... Why is there a cooldown for spell casting anyway, when the process of entering the spell already introduces a delay?

I do think it would be better to be able to enter the next spell, and have the cast button grayed out until cooldown is over.

This is a god idea.

Another one would be to keep the last spell set up, as in battle I nearly always use the same spell.

I thought about that too, but sometimes I use a bolt spell for range and then the enemy is up close so I use the cheaper close range spell.
At least I hope it's cheaper >.<
Seems to do more damage too or I'm just imagining things (haven't gotten upgraded bolts yet so that might make me change my mind).

I would love to see scrolls not only as rune sequence for casting spell, but as autocast tool too. I.e. if scroll is held in caster's hand, right click on it will lead to instant spell casting, without dealing rune combinations.

I don't mind it much, anymore. I figure its just your mage waving his arms or whatever about tracing the runes, it needs to be done each spell. The cooldown is just fatigue recovery.

I think a lot of the frustration would be taken out of runes if they just restricted rune selection to the left mouse button, and let you cast with the right mouse button, immediately. I'd fizzle so much less if I didn't have to drag the mouse back to the cast button after entering runes. Right mouse button swings/fires everywhere else... but not in the magic window.
