'Impossible' is a strong word considering all that has already been done with Toorum and the game has been finished in solo mode plenty of times

It's kind of true, but depends on what skills you invest in. If you use swords you have a decent attack speed and don't feel like you are just standing around a lot doing nothing. Axes are very slow and Toorum is an awful mage.

"Ancient" warrior, please show to me the youtube movie )) how you kill only with toorum them I play on the hard difficult and spiders there are very fast... And about ogre... a lot of time needed, that is very boring....
I hope that you understood, about what spiders I speak? At the beginning of prison level, where they surround us.
And please, write what you thinking about my proposal about experience gaining. This is needed? Or enemies not boring you and all killings are quick ?
The easiest way to handle the spiders is not to stop on the pressure plate and let them surround you, they don't teleport instantly so you have time to get out of there. Then you can run to the corridor near the Haunted Halls (where there's a gate that will help you escape) or fight them in the big room with plenty of room to maneuver. This works with any party (you don't need Toorum's extra speed).
If you do get surrounded blast them with frost bombs and kill one to get out. You're more likely to die, though.

Hard to say. It's not 'needed' in the sense that you can finish the game without the extra experience, but I'd say it would be more fun with a boost, just enough to reach about lvl 20 by the end. You can kill things fast if you go swords, that's about the only way.
myav wrote:You both miss that I tell not about power of weapons.
I speak about a variety of the weapons. That game has droped swords in 2 times more than droped axes and maces together taken.
When player play with axe skill and NOT change his axe in this level.. he not change his axe in the next level too, and not change his axe in the next level again.. But see on each level - new sword, it is realy boring...
And I suggest to replace very weak kinds of weapons in the late stage of the game (which we already have in both fighters or rogues and not need to find more) on new maces, slingers, arbalets, axes.
Only 1 kind of slinger and arbalets.. only 2 kinds of daggers and bows but a lot of swords ))
I'm not talking about mods. I suggest to include this in the main game. Any players will not be against this replacing, which not change power of party but will increase variety of the weapons.
And not needed to add new secret places or other places. Game already have a lot of free places or places with not needed weapons which all party already have.
This is quite false though isnt it?
Lets look it at it clearly.
SpoilerShow
Level 2
Machete yay your first sword is on level 2
Level 3
Longsword if I remember
Level 6
You get the cutlas, fire, and nex
Level 8 (which is technically after level 9)
You get the dismantler
So if we look at sword progression its not till level 8 (or stage 9) that you get the best sword, as well the fire sword is a longsword with a couple casts of fireball so that you can complete the mage entrance with out a fireball mage in the party. It's actual stats are the same as a longsword. So really theres only 5 swords in the game the fireball sword could have easily been any other weapon or item and still had the same effect.
So in effect sword progression is pretty laid out over the course of the game.
Yes there are less axes in the game but axes tend to be a much better weapon than maces and benefits from having a much higher dmg with a specked tree than swords. Sure in the end the Dismantler will attack faster than the top tier axe but you only really need the axe to hit once to kill the enemy at 50 axe.

I was using heavy armor and swords, but still it was just circle strafing a monster for minutes and keep clicking, not very fun, I've tried with more variety and added some points into mage skills but it failed miserably. Dunno I think it's completly doable but boring as hell, maybe once you get 50 skill points into swords it gets better but I doubt I have the patient to reach that point.
I think part of the appeal of the genre is that you don't get to shop or hoard uber loot and then cherry pick what to use. You have to make the most of what you find and it's not always going to be your specialized weapon. Finding the first axe for my axe Fighter was like discovering the wheel.
I would go a step further and have equipment break.
Although I think the specializations go too deep. Fighters basically have to pick one weapon and stick with it to be any good. I wish the characters could be more versatile with weapons and spells.

What I find a bit annoying is that you have found all the 5 different swords, and among them the two best, when you have cleared level 8. At the same stage you have found only 2 of the 4 axes, and those are found on level 9 and 10 thus making your use of Norja (axe nr.3) quite limited. I'd rather have found Norja on level 8 and the Dismantler on level 9.
As for balance the axe does more damage than the sword on a successfull hit, however the sword has a shorter cooldown and can attack faster, thus making the damage output balanced in the long run. Yes, the axe does more damage on a hit, but then a miss also become more critical as you have to endure a longer cooldown than with a sword.
You know you're screwed when the light at the end of the hallway is an onrushing ogre wielding a torch.
