For me it was a tentacle, almost flipped out of my chair.

I was impressed with the Tentacles to! I think the first time a spider dived into the screen I was pretty concerned!

for me it was the gormogog, or however... I was very much scared even BEFORE i realized i couldnt inflict damage to them... ... for a while

I nearly sh@t my pants the first time i saw another look of pushable wall-buttons so I had to go look at every single wall in the entire dungeon again

I have to go with the tentacles too, i was walking while thinking: hey, nice that this room is empty... to hell with the emptiness that tentacular beast just popped out in front of me!!! easy to kill but dude it scared me.

PS: any suggestion fo what is it, and what is under Grimrock? (well, before the crater of course) because they appear on lvl 13 too...

but level 2, that bit where you stare at that face in the wall to open the door, when it opened I jumped!

That surprise cost me one of my guys, hope I can revive him soon

- when you open the door by "healing the face's sight", the guard there made me jump
- first earthquake (ok, maybe not the same type of scare, but I was "what's happening? what's happening? oh god, what's happening?" throughout the whole thing )

Yeah totally forgot my first quake, took my headphones off for a sec cause I thought something was going on in my house. Ha ha

Gotta be the first earthquake. I had just dispatched (as in two seconds before) the first group of four skeletal legionnaires when it hit. All I could think was, "OH GOD I PISSED OFF THE DUNGEON OVERLORD NOOOOO!".
