Re: Level 7 Iron door minigame impossible to complete
had to try this numerous times as well but in the end reducing the graphic quality to a miminum worked for me as well.
also a good help is to quickly close the gate behind you before catching the first orb! that way you dont step out accidently and fail.

Re: Level 7 Iron door minigame impossible to complete
OK im back and have literally just done this puzzle, BUT only after turning ALL graphics options down to nothing dropping the resolution down to 1024x768 and going into windowed mode, after all this I can report that although still fast I was able to do it and i have to say the response time for my actions was very noticeably quicker, my keyboard went from feeling squishy and unresponsive to clicky and precise.
Now i realise this may be a completely personal and wholly imagined scenario (maybe i dreamed it) but the game engine itself does seem to slow down response time from physical input at high graphic settings, i also have to restate that i personally have no problem with the combat at max graphic settings at all, the combat being the way it is i find it very similar to the old DM/EotB way of working.
If anyone else finds this to help them then all well and good, these forums are supposed to be here to help players who love the game as much as we all do around any problems or quirks in the game not for flaming trolls to bully people.
And there is the first of the patches incoming soon so again a big thank you to Petri and the other devs for making the game i have been waiting for for soooo long.
peace out

A few people seem to have been more able to complete these reflex puzzles by changing down their settings, worth baring in mind for anyone that struggles. (and I will do so when I replay these sections!)

I've kind of been silent but the point of me making this thread is that there are issues with this puzzle in particular, and that it needs to be adjusted. I've lowered the graphics to the bare minimum, closed doors, done whatever. In the end this puzzle is one that requires literally perfect timing and twitch reflexes in a game that is more about logical problem solving and strategy. I'd actually like to see what one of the creators of the game has to say about this.

After hearing about this legendary difficulty spike, I was surprised to do this on my first attempt. I thought it was relatively easy because you can get into a rhythm and also anticipate your moves by seeing which bolt comes next. Mind you, it would be a real challenge if your PC couldn't handle it, which seems to be the source of a lot of problems.
Still, I don't mind difficulty spikes for non-essential secrets / achievements like this. That's why they're achievements.

i needed a few tries for this as well .. its hard but not impossible at least if you know where to move to beforehand ( got further with each 'remembered' step )
For those of us with a dexterity that is not on par with the younger ones maybe the Devs could add a 'Turtle speed' difficulty setting (reducing overall game speed a bit) - reminds me a bit of those 'Don't hurt me' settings in shooters ...

Re: Level 7 Iron door minigame impossible to complete
I got this one on my third try.
I think it's cool that the game's puzzles require both logical thinking and a quick reaction time.
And remember, the Iron Door puzzles ARE optional.

There are mods and such in various threads which allow you to alter the game speed, if you try them please post on how they work out for you.

Btw, one thing that affects to your movement speed is how much you carry stuff, even if one of you chars has the carried weight on yellow, slows your movement down quite a bit..

I was able to complete this one on the 3rd try once I realized what the puzzle was (block the bolts from hitting the faces)
