Like i said, steam probably regected the full game as a patch thing, so probably took it back and asked AH for a proper patch. You can either wait for this, or uninstall the game and re-install.

I cannot say that steam have kept the updated version as a full download but its likely, so you can either try this or wait. But make sure to backup saves!

Told Steam to remove local files and then re-installed... STILL 1.1.3 - I then reset my cloud to London UK to see if they got the newer version, so I once again removed local files and reinstalled- STILL 1.1.3.

Conclusion: they have NOT kept the updated version as a full download.

Actually, Steam/Valve should've simply put the newer version up and let it go at that. I noticed they got all their game updates out OK yesterday on the 20th but the indie games are obvious by their absence.

Further it appears that since they're west coast USA PDT, it'll be much later today before we know anything.

Thank you for trying to help.

ps; where are you getting your info from or, is it only supposition?

No worries. Just knowlege of Steam and how some distributors can be quite fussy with how things are done. I thought the full version would have been kept for those who need the whole game installed, but it seems something else is the issue, and thus it was reverted entirely.

Then again it could be anything :P

I hope something is sorted soon!

My guess is steam released this, then reverted it and probably told AH to make an actual patch...

Just do a re-install and all is well. There is even an option to keep saves :)

Steam wouldn't have rejected the update for that reason as they don't do delta updates. They have traditionally updated their master copy on their content servers with the latest build and updated their game manifest file. The game manifest (*.ncf) is the file downloaded by the Steam client to validate game files. Once the client gets the new manifest file, it checks all installed files and finds the files that are not up to date (probably utilizing MD5 hashing) and proceeds to download the entire file instead of doing delta-based patching. This is a real pain in the rear when game developers insist on making one (or two) large data file containing the majority of the game resources as the data file must be re-downloaded every time an update changes even a single resource contained in the file.

There was some rumblings (maybe a News post) about Steam switching to a new content distribution system that could do delta patching but so far I've seen no evidence of that being implemented with any game I own on Steam (over 100). The Steam client still re-downloads entire data files if they were altered by an update. It has become common to see Dungeon Defenders download at least 250 MB of data for a "patch" every week or two when Steam hasn't even put an update notification in their News feed.
