I find the matador thing very effective, although I don't try to hit him while he is running by, I wait when he misses me instead and then I step behind his back and send him fireball or two. When he starts running towards me again I just repeat the procedure - step away, turn around, step back, fireball. This way I keep him running there and back without even touching me until he dies :D

I feed him my fat, useless, grisly axe-fighter and watch as he vomits himself to death. Of course then I gotta resurrect the little retard in case I run into another ogre.

The matador technique basically turns them from an undefeatable juggernaut into a really trivial enemy.. it feels like an exploit and I wish it wasn't so easy... More than one at a time is still scary though.

Same thing with most enemies though. It's 95% kiting/abusing doors and 5% character builds / tactics. When it should be like 25% kiting/exploiting and 75% build/tactics. Kiting a dangerous enemy can make the fights more intense but it's just too easy and effective against everything.

Don't worry there are a few places they turn the tables on you. I remeber a nice long 1 wide wall way where I had to fight not 1 but 2 of them. Never back pedled so fast in m life.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
My end game stats LoG 1st play through

Well there just might be a button somewhere to let you resume kiting. ;)

I didn't use that cheese there though. I quaffed some speed/health/energy potions and faced my enemy like a viking. Insta-heal potions are a bit cheesy in their own right though, I'm glad their use is limited.

But basically, I think combat is at its best when you have to beat the enemy using your wits, group tactics and resources without resorting to potions or cheese.
