Oh yes I am vary old school I have book shelves full of old verisons of DnD, Rolemaster, CoC, Shadowrun, GURPS, Cyberpunk, and many other old table top. I used to play all the old dungeon crawlers and spent way to much time dicking around with the old rouge likes.

And I love MC I build all sorts of crazy stuff run a really tiny server locally for just a few friends. So yeah building something Grimrock like was one of the first things that pop up in my head after I finished the game.

Nice vid.

One thing Ive been doing is kncoking on the corner posts on thegird to give the walls a cleaner look. Also since most Dungeon cawlers never have turns that go flat back on the same wall (2x2) and instead always have a grid space between all walls you can use some of the side cells to add detail to a wall.

But nice and thinks for he credit in your vid.

I've made a couple more neat things, and greatly improved the area shown, and then I ran out of ideas =P

I am not all that familiar with dungeon crawls! I have a decent story on my unfinished adventure map thats out in the world, but having a hard time thinking up new things to do within the grid after the first few things.

Story of MC .... Start something get side tracked.

My suggestion doodle your idea out on paper first. That way you can get an idea of how stuff should flow. You might even get some ideas just from drawing out the idea you have now. Also I find much like how it is in Grimrock giving a name and theme to each level helps give me ideas as to watch should be there and helps me work out the flow for it.

Just one word... AMAZING!

Great job there, I downloaded it and well, now it's time to invest some time creating my own Grimrocky place... mwahwhahahaha! (I just need to learn more about redstone/pistons things hehe)

I love it, you saved me (and others too I'm sure) a ton of time, so I can only say: thank you!

I'd be glad to help you with your redstone/piston things and you could do the overall scheme to it =P

OK, you made me try out Minecraft... but seriously, I don't get it. I've modded it to look decent, I've gotten RPG mods and what not, but still.. you can do almost anything in this game, but nothing that is funny. Need I mention the creeper? OK, I understand that the game need at least one enemy that is challenging, but kamikaze mobs? *sigh*

Tried online as well, griefing and spam death was what I managed to encounter in one hour, then I uninstalled.

Well the point of the game is that you can do almost anything. Build stuff, get creative.
If you dont like what creepers add to the game you can turn them off.

Sorry you got griefed =[ there are better servers out there though, that dont do that.

I think you would like adventure maps, though! http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/141 ... 50000-dls/ is a good one, though there are many out there.

That one is pretty old though and wont make use of any 'new' things in game, but there are a ton of maps that have very challenging and rewarding puzzles and stories.

I would suggest frist play a little by yourself to get used to the game. Then shop around for a freindly server as many have greifers. I suggest servers that are white-listed and have some sort of application. Yes it takes work but most griefers tend not bother servers that require work to get on to.

For be MC is about building cool stuff with my freinds.
