I'm fighting against 2 cthulhu mages. no idea how to beat them. they have some kind of magic shields and they have powerful attacks that affects whole band. even fighting against 1 through the door i die.
draw them out and square fight them like every other thing in this game thats the easiest way.

The shield will drop after an amount of damage. I DO NOT suggest fighting these guys head on at all. They have to much damage output to make that a sane choice.

It's true its quite easy to fight vs1 on square tactic, but it complicates when 2
i killed them but there's 2 more and its not easy to drive one back like i did with previous two.

The shield will not drop after an amount of damage, but after an amount of hits.

I doubt that. There were a few times where I took the shield down in one hit from my big mino fighter with Ice Fell Hammer and 5 skulls.

I'm pretty sure it's actually based on number of hits. I was able to drop it with a Mage throwing a few shuriken at it. Zero skill throwing weapons aren't exactly damage powerhouses.
It might work as a massive armor modifier that drops after a set number of hits, and you were able to get through it in a single hit with your Minotaur because Mace skill gives you armor ignoring capabilities. It's a possibility to consider.

Random chance. Could be each and every hit not matter how big or small gives a chance to drop the shield.

That's possible. I was counting five hits before it drops on a regular basis, though. I'm inclined to think there is more consistency to it, with a possible secondary condition that could drop it sooner. A really big hit, an armor-bypassing strike, or something like that. Maybe there's just a small chance of it dropping with each hit, and it's guaranteed to drop after five hits or so? I don't remember ever seeing it drop early though, so I'm guessing it's not that.
My feeling is that it blocks a certain amount of hits, but only up to a certain amount of damage per hit, so guys with huge single hit numbers (maces) still do some damage, while the shield still stays up for the next hit.
