When I finish my hardmode playthru I may make a Normal Toorum run - In old school for the achievement
I'd prob go Axes to max then a bit in armors using the lurker set, and just aim not to get hit at all, he's so fast so if you get hit during a normal 1v1 combat you are doing something wrong.
Pitty he couldn't take missle weapons, he's a ranger isn't he? last I checked rangers used bows :p
Yes he gets the earthquakes.
Not I don't think Lurker is a good Idea. I started with that route but since he does not have a lot in the way of dex additive skills or the X2 evasion from dodge rouges get it really seems protection is better then evasion for a Toorum run. YMMV He does start ready to go at light armor so its not to much of a leap to get to heavy. He has a fast movement even whiled over loaded and there is always the trick with holding a box of stuff with the mouse if you need even more carry weight.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. My end game stats LoG 1st play through

Actually, they typically choose 1 from Bows, Dual-Wielding, or Animal Companions. Well, at least for builds in Dungeons and Dragons 4e. Still not quite correct though, eh? He must multiclass. Probably with Avenger.

Thats if you go with DnD. Honestly I think Axes and Earth magic make a fine logical sense for a Ranger type. After all if your tramping around the woods a Axe is hella handy and how needs a bow when you and blast something with a little magic?
