[spoilers] small disappointment at the end...

Post by Druff »

Don't read the title wrong, I loved the game :)

But, there was one thing that came to my mind the very second the game ended that made me a bit sad...

So, at the end, having discovered all secrets and stuff, my brave Dismantler-wielding knight was looking very handsome in his full Valor set, and the skullcrushing minotaur very fearsome in his shiny full plate suit, and the rogue was hanging from the ceiling in a full awe-inspiring ninja suit. And then there was my powerful mage, who was wearing... a pointy party hat and peasants clothes? I mean, he had some serious gear-envy going on there :) I really would have liked to see some useful full clothy set for a mage character also, anticipating finding new pieces for the sets for my characters was a huge piece of the enjoyment for me :)

The 3 other characters were surely giggling behind the mages back about him looking like a hobo.

Also, does my party really need twentyseven tattered cloaks...? ;)

Edit: and, only 3 useful amulets in the game, just have a guess who was the character having to wear the statless extra bone amulet, didn't really help his situation...

If you whack enough points into staff defence, you could have put him in the "Pretend to be a beetle" Chitin Armour ;)
Yummy, more baked maggots ... bah, give them to the mage ...

Ahah my mage had some better clothing but I agree no cool amulet for him as well.

Yeah, the options would have been to give him either plate/ringmail and have every hit from behind kill him for lack of evasion, or waste skillpoints into staff def which the game design really didn't allow either (way too few levels/skillpoints) and gain protection from bugman stuff, which again not so useful for a backrow mage :)

I guess I could go back and have him wear the pointy shoes to match his hat, then he atleast can be the party jester.

I hated my mage so much after level 3 I started over with a mageless party.

Don't get me wrong Magic is fairly decent but it became clear to me that focusing was the way to go with mages and the lack of cloth armors (the lurker set btw is awesome for a mage ... just saying) I knew over the long haul I would start to feel the mage in the party as being a 3rd wheel of sorts.

The problem with my mage was that it kept having no energy to cast spells, surely it'd hit for like 100-150 but he could only do that 4-5 times before turning into a mobile torch carrier. And I started with maxed out willpower, aura, strong mind, and insectoid, and had also energy regeneration items on him.

Played through the game already have found most of the secrets 62/71 Post with stats if your curious and I can say I do not believe there is a mage set. The hat and cloak are about it armor wise and the Orb is nice but only really for a fire mage. That said if you got no cloth rogues the Lurker set is great to protect your mage giving him good evasion (rogues can get double with it though)
