Most and least favorite levels.

Post by Lmaoboat »

What levels did you love and hate the most of all the ones in the dungeon.

My favorite has to be level 4 for the large assortment of puzzles and the the wordplay with the scrolls. Level 6 is also pretty good just for all the nice items you can find there. Level 3, on the other hand, I found to be the least. Constantly getting poisoned and fighting so many spiders turned into a real slog.

What difficulty you played?

Speaking about my game (on hard):
Poison is weak and can be easily rested off. Besides there is +50% resist poison item in this levels. Not to mention possible poison shield.

I both loved and hated the last battle.
The boss was incredibly scary, and he worked really will with grid based movement.
I hated getting boxed in by mobs then eventually crushed.
I reloaded twenty times or so, before taking a break.
After coming back I only had to reload once before beating him.

Level 3 stank of old kippers and dog poo. Hated it.

My most favorite was level 9. Actually, from that point on in the game in general, including level 8. The whole feel of the dungeon design changed, and felt even more old-school - no more easy puzzles. Every little nook and cranny felt like they kept secrets from me, and I simply couldn't find them. Frequently got stuck and had to stop and think to figure out how to move forward, too.

Least favorite was level 7. Except for the shadow maze, it just wasn't memorable to me - it seemed "eventless" compared to the rest of the game. But in an odd way, I'm glad this game had quirks and inconsistencies like this, makes it feel more alive and believable that way.

Level 3 by far, I loved the multiple enemies, the feeling of utter dread when I opened a door and saw an army of spiders on the other side eagerly waiting to have a go at my guys and their throats. I reckon, as I've mentioned in another thread aswell, that level 3 is going to be "that level" (the most famous one that everybody can remember) due to the sudden change in difficulty and the horrorfying nature of the spiders.

...level 4 kinda sucked though, sure it was different but I wanna explore a dungeon, not some random challenge hall.
Screw you guys, I'm famous!

3 was the first one with really exciting combat. 4 was very old school and you have to appreciate that. Finding your way into and through the vault was a lot of fun.
Temple 2 was excellent. Temple 1 had some excellent design.
First stepping into the final room had me right back up the stairs, great atmosphere.
Least favorite? I can't really say a bad word about any of them...

Have to agree here. The build-up was well-done and built suspense, and the boss itself was wonderful, but quickly ruined by the hordes of out-of-place trash that were simply there to make life more awkward.

My favourites are
Level 8/Vault, more specifically the optional 'Dismantler's Vault' sub-area for the puzzles and design,
Level 10/Goromorg Temple II for general awesomeness as well as the introduction of my favourite creature in the game, and
Level 12/Prison for the change in scenery and being the only level that made me feel a bit uneasy. It's really dark in there with only the light spell!

My least favourite is Level 3/Pillars of Light because I can't think of anything memorable/special about that floor (except maybe the huge amount of spiders).

Rid the stink and the noise from our skirts
But you haven't got the clue and perhaps you never will
Mute we stand on the cold plains of Wiltshire "
