Re: HATE
Hint: You can sleep off the spider poison. I cleared the whole level without ever using Anti-Venom.

I didn't have too much trouble with the spiders myself, but I can see them being very frustrating if the player didn't know how to deal with poison well.
They hit harder than a lot of the previous enemies, they're the first enemies that poison you so severely, and they're much faster than previous enemies as well. They're not really that difficult, but they do force the player to pick up and learn a lot of things at once that they might not have picked up previously.

I reckon LoG is ripping off EotB with the spiders.. they were the first scary difficult monster in Eye of the Beholder too and I got poisoned like a champ

Except that in EotB, it took you a while before finding anti-venom potions, and if you didn't have the slow poison spell, it was a "bye-bye"Halk wrote:I reckon LoG is ripping off EotB with the spiders.. they were the first scary difficult monster in Eye of the Beholder too and I got poisoned like a champ

Oh, how I hate those spiders, specially the wandering ones attacking you while you rest and instakilling the poor mage
I personally enjoyed that level a lot.

...I personally pissed myself when i got jumped by a stray spider while resting in a room I thought was clear and then found out that I couldn't escape because another spider was blocking my clever escape route.
Level 3 is going to be "that level", y'know, the iconic one everybody has a story about and which seperates the dungeoneers from the snackbars.
Screw you guys, I'm famous!

I always found myself rushing the spider level so I could get to the dwarves below to get a cure... In some ways it's inspired level design, because you were up against it, and in other ways it wasn'tMyeka wrote:Except that in EotB, it took you a while before finding anti-venom potions, and if you didn't have the slow poison spell, it was a "bye-bye"Halk wrote:I reckon LoG is ripping off EotB with the spiders.. they were the first scary difficult monster in Eye of the Beholder too and I got poisoned like a champ

Oh yeah, compared to the ones of EoB, the ones in LoG are quite tame They just deserve a proper treatment, slash them off and spleep over the poison... Can´t remember dealing with eight-legged terror in EoB that easily... They were the purest nightmare, just topped by those monsters eating up your equipment and the infamous mindflayers. Wonder what´s haunting the deeper levels of Grimrock, but I prepare for the worst
