Missle weapons, yay or nay?

Post by litch »

Im about level 4. My party has 2 rogues, a warrior, and a mage. Right now the front row rogue dies now and again while the back row rogue is using a pike/lance. He had a bow but after 3 shots Id have to run around and get the ammo again. Im wondering if its worth it to restart with 2 warriors, 1 rogue, and one mage instead. It seems like the warriors have no problem holding their own.

Do missle weapons and ammo pick up at some point?

Missile weapons can be pretty strong since they never miss, and they get some sweet skill upgrades too.

I heard having a minotaur archer is one of the stronger builds you can make.

How is that different from throwing weapons?

Missile weapons do over twice the base damage, before including skill bonuses?

I'm starting level 6 and I have more arrows than I do throwing knives or throwing stars.

When you pick up enchanted arrows, don't be afraid to use them. Your mage can enchant them again anyway. Once used they become normal arrows and will stack with your current onces.

I also keep a spear in my mage's offhand so I can swap that to the rogue if he runs out of ammo. So far most things will die before he runs out, and I can quickly pick up the arrows.

I have a Minotaur (agressive, headhunter) with points in throwing weapons only and he hits like a truck. I have also a lizardman with bow+arrows and even if the minotaur dexterity is like 2/3 of the lizardmen, the attack bonuses+skulls makes it very viable.
