I've tried playing the mod under
- openSUSE 42.1 + Wine
- Win 7

My computer has 4 gb ram and a GeForce GTX 550 Ti with 1 gb.

Wine:
The mod crashes often when I quicksave, and sometimes hangs when resting.
It's completely unplayable with the Texture Resolution set to high, so I've set it to medium.

Win 7:
The mod runs perfectly.
It's playable with the Texture Resolution set to high, but movement is often jerky, so I've set it to medium.

I have developed the mod under Win 7 installed in dual boot on a Mac Pro (2007, dualCore 2,66 GHz 5 Go Ram) with an ATI Radeon HD 4870 with 512 Mo . 90% of the time, the game runs correctly in high texture resolution, but some trouble can occurs caused (I think) by a lack of memory refreshing (by example, if i swap repeatedly from editor to game). In any case, the RAM usable by the game was 1,4 Go maximum.
Tested on a more recent IMac with OS X.8.4 (I5 quadricore) and 8 Go de Ram, the mod runs perfectly (Steam version).
Have you finished the game already?

I've just restarted it after playing it on Wine for a few hours.

Thanks for the link on WINE use, it's seems to be a good replacement solution for Windows. As I plan to leave Mac OS for my next computer, I will give it a try.

Which order would you recommend for visiting the levels?

If you have a new party, Edenia Woods first, Aerion (you can enter the city without fighting), Flame River's Quarry (same thing in Vindo) and the North of Twisted Forest. At this point, you have several possibilities (under Twisted Forest by example). But if you want to figure out how all this works, you have to discover more informations, and the Arcanum can give you some tracks to follows.
Some maps needs a party at least level 8: Fir Bolg Mine, Wasteland, Underwaste, south of Twisted Forest, Fir Bolg Sanctuary and obviously Mountain of the Eight.
But if you use attrition strategy, you can overcome most of the levels piece by piece.
Anyway, round trips will be necessary between different maps : not too long if you look for the shortcuts (you can find plenty of them)

Have you found this riddle:
SpoilerShow
One forge
Four broken swords
One key
Four ways
You have visited Under Edenia Woods, so...
SpoilerShow
Have you found the map leaved by Rotan to find his father's corpse? Do you know where is the battlefield of the Three Doors? Have you a shovel? :)

The "game hangs while resting" bug that I mentioned earlier happens under Win 7, too.
It happens in Under Waste, just like it did under Linux + Wine.

Windows tells me "this program is not responding, close it or wait for a response?"
After about a minute, the game crashes with this error:
#twoways_script.script:115: not enough memory

Code: Select all

stack traceback:
	[C]: in function 'error'
	[string "ScriptInterface.lua"]: in function 'getWorldPositionY'
	#twoways_script.script:115: in function <#twoways_script.script:113>
	[string "Script.lua"]: in function 'sendMessage'
	[string "MessageSystem.lua"]: in function 'update'
	[string "GameMode.lua"]: in function 'update'
	[string "Grimrock.lua"]: in function 'display'
	[string "Grimrock.lua"]: in main chunk
I'm no expert, but this looks like an infinite loop to me :)
