Video Analysis

Post by ozmiz »

Boring day so I was hitting pause on the video to try and get some ideal of the character generation and game mechanics, I thought I would post here my notes in case anyone else was interested. Edit: Also added a couple notes made from screen captures.

As of video post, there are four known Races to select from at Character Generation:
Human - Minotaur - Lizardman - Insectoid

Lizardman:
  • Lizardmen are social outcasts and generally mistrusted due to their caprious and deceitful nature.
They are superb in tasks requiring stealth and dexterity.
    Dexterity +3, Will Power - 3
    Skillpoints At First Level: 3
Three Known Classes in Grimrock:
Fighter - Mage - Rogue

Skills: (Each Class seems to come with a core set of skills)
Rogue Skills (Able to level each up through 'Skill Points'):
  • Assassination:
    • Description: Knowledge of Stealth and precise deadly attacks
      Lvl Ability:
      • 2 Backstabbing (2x damage when attacking enemy from behind)
        5 Strength +1
8 Reach Attack (Attack with melee weapons from back row)
    Bows:
    • Description: Improves Accuracy and damage of bows
      Lvl Ability
      • 2 Aim: Attack Power (Bows) +2
        5 Dexterity +1
10 Quick Shot (25% faster attack rate with bows)
    Daggers:
    Dodge:
    Throwing Weapons:
    Unarmed Combat:
Fighter Skills (what appears to be starting skill set)
  • Axes:
    Daggers:
    Dodge:
    Maces:

Stats/Resistance/Encumbrance:

Through observation, one or more of the above are raised by increasing an attribute; for example raising Dexterity raised Accuracy, Evasion, Resist Fire and Resist Shock).
Also certain traits can raise these along with wearing items, such as Armor, that can raise Protection for example.

Traits:
Grimrock allows you to select one or more Traits that either raise an attribute, or bestows a resistance, or etc. Unknown how many more traits exist.

Aggressive:
Agile:
  • Your reflexes are exceptional
    Dexterity +2

There's a thread about playtime over here.

In which Juho says:
