Good question.

I have no patching device in the game - so loading your savegame will give a warning.

Could be that certain things do not run propperly. If you want to be sure to be save from crashes you should re-start the game, yes.

Because I got some reports about some serious bugs I have uploaded an update. See the very first post.

Weird. - And: Yes, something is wrong with the materials for the models.

But I have no idea, how to fix this - beside re-installing the game.

Maybe you can play around with the settings. Maybe you grafic hardware doesn't want to do everything. - But this is just pure guessing...

Are you talking about the original game or about a mod?

IIRR this error occurs when you have choosen a wrong filetype for a texture-image - which is quite impossible for the original game...

There seem to be some commands to inexisting gameobjects.

I'm waiting for some more bug reports from someone else at the moment. As soon as I got them, I will prepare an update.

Honestly - I'm a bit confused, what you are trying to achieve.

You found out how to open the secret room behind the bookshelf - and as far as I get it you are able to enter that room.
