The description of your problem shows that your computer sound is set up to something with a center speaker or subwoofer - any 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 setup - so it naturally sends sound towards that missing speaker. To fix this open whatever sound mixer software belongs to your hardware (i.e. Realtek HD Audio-Manager for a Realtek sound chip) and make sure it's set to either "Stereo", "2 Speakers" or "Headphones". Indeed my comp was set to 7.1 though I never had or used such system. Took a while to find the setting for it, but when I did it was easy to fix

I solved the pressure plate part 2 also now
