Re: Hey guys, I made a Dungeon Crawler!

I see, thanks for filling me in on that. The Dungeons of Castle Madness is similar in that the combat switches out from first person but very much its own beast as well. It owns its space. It's not party based which opens up the possibility of more Diablo-esque (or as you said, Gauntlet-esque) battl...

Re: Hey guys, I made a Dungeon Crawler!

Thanks. I never played Realms of Arkania but the comparison has been made to me before so I assume that's probably about right. Less gauntlety though as each fight is a self contained scene and exploring levels is done back in the first person gridder mode. I think that the combat in a lot of first ...

Re: (Spoilers) Was anybody else disappointed with the castle

I never really thought about it like that when I played through. I absolutely hated the end boss though, but then I hated the end boss to the first game possibly even more.

Re: How to approach making a dungeon crawler?

It's not easy, I made the game The Dungeons of Castle Madness (see here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/506840/ ) which is a dungeon crawler with a twist (or two!). You need to start by making a basic indoor dungeon and either some code that can read the level file containing the dungeon informat...

Hey guys, I made a Dungeon Crawler!

I spent a year making my own dungeon crawler... from scratch! Not many people know about it yet. You could say that it's a dungeon crawler with a twist; it mixes first person gridder type exploration with a top down battle system. It really is quite innovative and that isn't the only innovation in t...

Labyrinth Lord RPG

There is an interesting Kickstarter for a project that aims to bring the pen and paper RPG Labyrinth Lord to the PC: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/552978902/labyrinth-lord-the-computer-game The kickstarter cites Legend of Grimrock, Eye of the Beholder and the Bards Tale, so if it gets off the...
