Well since there are achievements for both beating it on hard and without automap, that's what I'm doing

Ah yes, good point about teleports, didn't think about that. This will be my first attempt at hand mapping outside of a game. I love the Etrian Odyssey games, but those have the advantage of telling you where you are on the map at any given time.
