Is it possible to change the number of skill points on level up?

You don't need to leave the items on the floor. Along the walls between the teleporters there are actually shelves that you can place items upon. I didn't figure this out until my second playthrough. ;(

I've been using the courtyard outside the castle where you place all the essences, though the Hub sounds like an even better place to store stuff. (Didn't know about the shelves).
