Grimrock

At the beginning of the Ruins of Desarune there is a gate with what appears to be some plate armor behind it, but i am not having any luck opening it, any hints?

the compass i think is mainly for old school mode where you dont have an in game map.

In Herder's Den, near where the pickaxe is, there is a gate with what appears to be some kind of helmet and maybe a potion behind it. Anyone have any idea how to open it? Can the pickaxe be used like the shovel?

Don't worry i did the same for like 10 minutes. The fact that the symbol on it looks like one of the spell casting runes really confused me.

In eastern twigroot before you get to the River, there should be two of those basin things with a little flame in them. Not exactly laterns.

So i have no idea what to do with the lever puzzle at the end of keelbreach bog. And whats with the statue that says "I am the right eye, I saw where the meteor fell"?
