This is essentially what I suggested, except being in-game (and perhaps more simplistic).

Would be awesome to press a key to open up in-game grid paper on which you put wall segments and notes.

Seems like everyone is misinterpreting my intention here. Just wanted to facetiously post this, a Freudian outburst, of a sort. Not sure why this is noteworthy. If a Bethesda developer made a comment like that, it would be cool because it's always good to see devs being humble and appreciative of the work of their competitors.

It works great in Etrian Odyssey because you got a second screen right below the main screen, that you can actually draw on using a stylus. Having to draw an ingame map on the pc using your mouse would feel very awkward I think. (though...maybe I should try making a grid-based PC mapper :)) I'm not...
